    Monarch Casino Resort, Inc (MCRI) a publicly traded corporation recognized by Forbes on their "Most Trustworthy Companies" list has opened an exclusive career opportunity, Construction Project Accountant.

     

    The position will be based at MCRI’s flagship property Atlantis Casino Resort Spa located in Reno, Nevada.  The individual will be responsible for the accounting construction projects for Monarch Casino Black Hawk, which is under active expansion to scale from a casino operating property to a luxurious Casino Hotel Resort. Additionally the Construction Project Accountant will support future construction accounting projects for Atlantis Casino Resort Spa

     

    The Construction Project Accountant is responsible for all project accounting for jobs assigned, acting as liaison between accounting and project management ensuring accurate and consistent billing and financial reporting.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversight with project budget maintenance and project budget variance analysis and commentary
    • Facilitate project audits and subcontract closeout
    • Maintain organized project contract files & creating and entering POs for executed contracts
    • Review sub-contractors' statements & Subcontractor compliance – includes setting up subcontractor files, tracking insurance, etc.
    • Participate in on-demand project / cost reviews to discuss project status and provide financial information and support for project / cost reviews
    • Coordinate subcontractor invoices and payments per contract terms and enter in the system
    • Review project labor and expense charges with Project Managers for accuracy and appropriateness
    • Analyze projects; generate job costing reports to provide meaningful input to project teams and office management
    • Interact with clients and vendors in a professional, courteous manner
    • Monitor and support monthly requirements including month-end close, financial and variance reports, WIP schedules and Cost to Complete estimates.
    • Prepares all periodic financial control reports such as payroll analysis, general ledger, month-end accounting, etc. in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Oversees the financial reporting of inventory management, Cost accounting, material, labor, overhead rates
    • Perform audits as required to insure security of all manufacturing assets. Analyzes operating costs in detail and recommends action to increase profitability and enhance long-term return on investment.
    • Prepares annual budgets and cost projections, monthly forecasts and firm-ups.
    • Promote clear understanding of financial key figures and costing, including organizing training sessions for non-specialists.
    • Develops and implements controls, procedures and systems necessary to ensure the safeguard of company assets.
    • Complete various required project reports for the Construction team.
    • All other duties as necessary.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience with accounting construction project management and job costing experience.
    • Casino Hotel Resort construction and/or property management industry experience is preferred.

    Job Skills:

    • Knowledge of MS Office products. Must have advanced Excel experience.
    • Strong analytical, interpretation skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to set own priorities and to manage time to meet deadlines
    • Ability to work accurately at a fast pace.
    • Ideal candidate will be motivated, self-starter, detail oriented and responsive to deadlines.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
    • CPA designation is a plus.
